Conservative columnist, David Limbaugh, wrote a very insightful article on how the Republicans could possibly squander their political clout due to the fear of a government shutdown- should there be no agreement on the federal budget.
GOP Fear That History Will Repeat Helps Ensure It Will
Why is it that despite the Republicans’ resounding electoral victory in 2010 based on their promises for real change, many of us have a queasy feeling they’re not quite measuring up to the task, even in the climate of Democratic infighting and President Obama’s weaknesses?
The Hill reports that there is developing dissension between Obama and Senate Democrats, whose respective “political fortunes … are moving in opposite directions, complicating their efforts to win a titanic battle against Republicans over federal spending.”

I think Limbaugh nails it quite nicely, it seems that the Republicans, instead of banking on the mandate that they have from the November election, are looking in the past seeing what had happened when the government had to shutdown during the 90’s and Bill Clinton came out looking like a winner. Not wanting to see something like this happen again, they play games and kick the can down the road instead of doing what is right.
Making tough decisions isn’t for the fainthearted and shutting down the government burdened by a 14 trillion dollar debt isn’t a tough decision to make at all.
We are not living in the 90’s and America voted for a “conservative”
congress house in order to set things in order and get the country on the right track and it is high time that these “conservatives” man up and do what needs to be done.
Can we have at least one person with guts take a stand for something in Washington?
